Algebraic space-time codes with full diversity and low peak-to-mean power ratio

A new class of full diversity space-time codes is proposed that leads to a significantly smaller Peak-to-Mean Envelope Power Ratio (PMEPR) compared to the recently invented Diagonal Algebraic SpaceTime (DAST) and Threaded Algebraic Space-Time (TAST) codes. Moreover, the proposed “Low PMEPR Space-Time” (LPST) codes exhibit identical performance and decoding complexity compared to the TAST codes....

On the Existence of Codes with Constant Bounded PMEPR for Multicarrier Signals’

It has been shown that with probability one the peak to mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR) of any random codeword chosen from a symmetric QAM/PSK constellation is logn where n is the number of subcarriers [l]. In this paper, the existence of codes with nonzero rate and PMEPR bounded by a constant is established.

Quadrature Amplitude Modulated Codes with Low Peak-to-Mean Envelope Power Ratio for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Applications

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted as the modulation technique for many of the next generation wireless broadband multimedia communications systems, for example, Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), and the wireless local area network (LAN) standards HIPERLAN/2, and IEEE 802.11a. One problem inherent in plain vanilla OFD...

Complementary Sets, Generalized Reed-Muller Codes, and Power Control for OFDM

The use of error-correcting codes for tight control of the peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR) in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission is considered in this correspondence. By generalizing a result by Paterson, it is shown that each q-phase (q is even) sequence of length 2 lies in a complementary set of size 2, where k is a nonnegative integer that can be easily ...

A soft decision decoding of product BCH and Reed-Müller codes

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a very attractive modulation scheme for data transmission in multipath channels. But the high Peak-to-MEan Power Ratio (PMEPR) of the modulated signal is a major drawback and makes the use of some circuits very tricky : for instance, power amplifiers at the emission side could have nonlinear characteristics and a high PMEPR could exhibits int...
